Overview

The Commercial Credit Analyst is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with 2 or 3 days in office once minimum standards have been achieved.

 

  • Supports the business lending teams by performing financial and credit analysis of both businesses and individuals. Effectively assesses the five C’s of credit: character, capacity, collateral, capital, and conditions in support of business lending decisions. Completes credit memorandums for new and existing borrowing relationships. Advises lenders on loan structure and provides information and assistance to the Vice President - Credit Administrator, as needed.

 

  • Upholds legal, regulatory and compliance requirements unique to the role, in addition to Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering, OFAC, and Information Security policies and procedures. Completes annually required compliance related courses as established by Harborstone Credit Union policies and/or practices.

 

  • Effectively builds trust with members and internal staff by embodying and demonstrating the Core Values of the organization. Commercial Credit Analyst Compensation:

Minimum: $37.49

Maximum: $53.55

Applicant with desired mix of knowledge, skills and abilities could anticipate $40.16 - $42.84

 

 

Responsibilities

• Input and analyze large amounts of financial data from a variety of sources, including: tax returns, CPA Compiled/Reviewed/Audited financial statements, company prepared financial statements, personal financial statements, and credit bureaus


• Identify and assess quantitative data and qualitative factors pertinent to the credit decision


• Determine and effectively communicate underlying causes of financial performance


• Identify and mitigate credit risks and exceptions to loan policy


• Draft comprehensive and well-written credit memorandums in support of lending decisions


• Provide guidance to lenders regarding loan structure


• Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines

 

• Monitor compliance with loan covenants


• Ensure collection of complete loan packages

 

Qualifications


• Sound credit risk assessment and financial analysis skills


• Thorough understanding of the five C’s of credit


• Comprehensive understanding of tax and accrual accounting


• Ability to work both independently and part of a team


• Working knowledge of credit union regulations


• Experience with Sageworks lending operating system (preferred)


• Loan documentation and application system knowledge (preferred)


• Bondable

Education/Experience/Certification:


• At least 3 years of commercial credit underwriting experience


• At least 3 years of business financial analysis experience


• At least 5 years of experience working in a credit union and/or other financial institution


• 1 or more years of experience working in commercial loan documentation is helpful
